Clintonville Strings Festival

For 4-8 strings parents: The Clintonville strings festival is Tuesday, March 21st! To feed your children we are having a potluck before the festival starts. Below are 2 links. The first one is to sign up to bring something to the potluck and the second is to volunteer. If your child has dietary restrictions please consider having your child pack food for dinner. The students are really beginning to get excited!

Garden Clean Up

No foolin’! On April 1st, from 10 am- noon (weather permitting) help tidy up Indianola’s learning garden. Please bring any gloves, shovels, old paint brushes/outdoor paint, drills/ battery powered saws, wood planks, and gas powered weed whackers. Connect with nature and each other!

Absent? Tardy? Email!
Please send an email right away to dholland@columbus.k12.oh.us when your student is going to be absent.  If the student’s absence or late arrival is due to a doctor, dental, or court appointment, PLEASE get an excuse from the office you are visiting. Picking up a child early without a valid reason will be counted as unexcused.
ALL absences over 9 absences will be counted as UNEXCUSED if there is not specific documentation from a doctor’s or dentist’s office. Please email documentation to Denise (see above) or fax to 614-365-8324. Thank you for your cooperation!

Helpful Links: Ways to Serve Others

Parent Surrogate (special education) Volunteers: The district is offering training for individuals interested in volunteering on Thursday, May 4, 9am-1pm. A parent surrogate is an individual who is trained by the state to represent a student at an IEP or ETR meeting due to the student being in foster care or in the custody of Franklin County Children Services. Essentially, the parent surrogate attends any special education meetings, signs off on special education forms, and ensures that the student is receiving appropriate services.
Seeds of Caring: Are you looking for opportunities to volunteer with your children?  Do you want to plant seeds of kindness and caring that will stay with your children for years to come?  Come join us at Seeds of Caring, where we plan kid-friendly volunteer events specifically geared toward children ages 2-12.  Our events include opportunities like delivering Meals on Wheels or making blankets for hospitalized children, and then we provide families ways to extend the learning at home.  All details and a listing of our volunteer events can be found here:  www.seedsofcaring.org
