Fall II Session Begins

Columbus Recreation and Parks Community Centers are registering participants for a new session of athletic and creative arts classes which will begin on Tuesday, Oct 31. Many centers offer fitness rooms for adults to exercise while children attend classes. Many classes are offered at no cost to children, while P.L.A.Y. grants will fund one class (including 50% off swim lessons) per session for each eligible participant (up to a maximum of $20) if your family needs help with a fee.

Family Read-Aloud
Award winning books are a great resource to get ideas of good read aloud books. Look for titles that seem to fit your child’s interests. Check reviews to see if the book is age appropriate. Pick up your book (and others) at a local library today!
Family Read-Alouds are a great source of quality time with your child. Take some time by yourself beforehand so you can be refreshed and relaxed as you enjoy reading and talking together. Share your thoughts as you read: you and your child can make connections to the book through experience or feelings you’ve had, places you’ve been, or other books you’ve read.

Engage with our school community: share what book you’re reading on the Indianola Informal K-8 Friends and Family Facebook Group. Other families will appreciate book recommendations especially when you share the ages/grades of kids who enjoyed it.
