Sales Tax Holiday

Good News!

From NOW until August 6th, the state of Ohio will have a Sales Tax Holiday that will exempt certain items from sales and use tax. This is a great time to get back-to-school items.

The items that are exempt from tax:

* Clothing priced at $75 per item or less

* School supplies priced at $20 per item or less

* School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less

(Items used in a trade or business are not exempt under the sales tax holiday.)

Middle School students should also purchase one simple sketchbook for art class and a pack of black sharpies!


Support for Families

School Supplies Assistance

Hands on Central Ohio has a list of school supplies giveaway events starting as early as Aug 11. Please read details for each event carefully as some have specific income requirements or zip code restrictions. Children are often required to attend in order to receive supplies.

Clothing Assistance

Outfitting students in grades K-12 with clothes that fit and are appropriate for Ohio weather is the heart of Charity Newsies. The children they serve are enrolled in public, private, charter and vocational schools-students from more than 400 schools in Franklin County are helped each year by them.

The majority of students are given a warm winter jacket, pants, shirts, undergarments, socks, hat, gloves and a shoe voucher for Payless. See this schedule for applying at a library near you.

Indianola Community Directory and MORE!

Indianola Community Directory

As parents, we look for ways to enrich our child’s education. We enroll them in athletic or artistic activities during the year and look for history, robotic, or coding camps during the summer. But how do we find enrichment as parents? By volunteering as a coach or serving in our communities we gain unique experiences. I also encourage you to volunteer here at Indianola. It is a wonderful experience to observe your child in the classroom setting as you read with other students or help fill Friday folders. You quickly learn classmates’ names as you open yogurt tubes or thermoses in the cafeteria. Getting to know other parents as you organize Wellness Week events, serve on a Carnival committee, or attend a PTO meeting enriches you during your child’s years at Indianola.

We want you to choose how you serve in our community. There are roles that can accommodate various work schedules – stop in on a lunch break even! Indicate your volunteer interests in the Indianola Directory below so we can begin to plan for next year’s activities.

Whether you are new to our school, ready to volunteer, or not, please complete the directory info form (linked below). Contact information is helpful to organize summertime get-togethers and give kids a chance to write each other while they are apart (snail mail or parent’s email).

Auction: 18 Holes of Golf

You thought the silent auction at the carnival was over? 18 Holes of Golf at Willow Run Golf Course was not bid on at the live silent auction at the carnival. Here’s your chance to help the PTO raise money for the school and have some fun!! Located just east of Columbus, this is a perfect Father’s Day gift or gift for any golf enthusiast. The winner will receive 18 holes of golf for a foursome with golf carts.

Beginning at 6 p.m. TONIGHT and ending on the last day of school, you can go to www.32auctions.com/indycarnival and bid on this item online! Bidding starts at just $25, there is a “buy it now” price of $128. Feel free to share the auction’s website with friends and family who might be interested!


Head Lice Information

Head lice is a common problem among young children. Inform yourself here so you can identify and treat head lice should you find them and as you prepare for camps this summer. Although a nuisance, it is not a serious condition and can be successfully treated. What to look for: Head lice are tiny grayish white insects. They cannot fly or jump, but can crawl. Sometimes lice are difficult to find in a child’s hair. The lice eggs (nits) are much easier to see. They are about the size of a pinhead, shaped like a teardrop and vary in color. Nits are tightly attached to a single hair shaft and cannot be washed or brushed out. They are commonly found in the hair at the back of the neck or behind the ears.

Annual 8th Grade Art Gala

May 30, 6:30-8:00 pm

Ground Floor

8th graders will be having a culminating art exhibit to celebrate their 3 year long experience in the art department, and their whole time at Indianola! On display on the ground floor hallway will be their final Inspired Self-Portraits, and various other pieces.

Register online today for Elementary and Middle School students. High School registration opens June 5. Locations, dates and times listed here. Online registration requires your child’s student identification number which can be found on his/her past report cards. Summer school information packets are available here.
